If
you are looking for a good weekend classic to rent this weekend
a
great recommendation is
It's
in the Water
This
is one gay little movie.
The
movie centers on a small Texas town and it's fear and homophobia.
But even though it is based on very serious subject, make no mistake,
this movie is a watered down style of any John Waters film.
Meaning... it's a comedy, it's entertaining and it's campy.
The
story starts with a rumer that the towns water is polluted
and
making its citizens... gay!
What
makes this movie a lesbian classic is the all too familiar story
of a stuck in a rut, mostly unhappily married woman coming to terms
with her feelings toward her high school best friend. Sound
familiar? And in a small Texas debutant town, you can imagine
the mayhem, particularly when her snobish bossy mother and frustrated
husband finds out.
Oh,
and it also doesn't hurt at all that the two lead women in the movie
are gorgeous.
