The LBO crew loves the Spring!  We attend many women's festivals and weekends each year and travel hundreds of miles.  This year our favorite has been the Russian River Women's Weekend and we can sum it up in one word... friendly.  Other words that come to mind are decadent, accepting, entertaining and we are not talking about the town and its folk, but about the women who attend the events.

This is still a strange little town with its own bizarre tug of war of gay entrepreneurs versus the old timers trying to promote family values, that is straight families.  Still, this town is most certainly run by the boys.

What is great about RRWW is that each resort, bar and club gets involved

and has something going on. The parties are not monopolized by certain

individuals and the pricing is more than fair.  The pool parties are $8 or free the beers are $2.50, the club parties were $15 and while there still is great room for improvement on the bathroom situation the lines are not nearly as long as other events.

There are not thousands of women flocking to Russian River for the weekend Like other events but there are certainly hundreds, and what seems very different the other events is that the women all seem to have

two things in mind, having fun and meeting other women!  Stand in a line here and you are likely to run into the friendliest gals around. You may

very likely leave the weekend with new lifelong friends.

Last year and in recent years most the events were hosted and MC'd primarily by the boys which was a little odd.  Nothing like seeing a gay boy in tight jeans and cowboys boots, man handling the breasts of the Wet T-Shirt contestants?  Odd, but this year someone seems to have taken advise and took a good look or listen to what the women want.  No where did I see a gay boy screaming out on the PA what we should be hoot'in and holler'in for. Big improvement!

It seems positive changes have been made in RRWW and the much needed UMPF is gaining momentum!
