How do women feel about their bodies?

 

While some women love their bodies, others hate their bodies… but many women have a love/hate relationship with their bodies! We like some of our features, while disliking others. Maybe it’s your height, your butt, your breasts, your stomach or your nose? We are surprised that some of the very features we hate about ourselves, our lovers adore.

 

Some of us have been subjected to rejection and or abuse that we have carried on in our lives and we no longer see ourselves rationally.

 

Carol in California, who wears a size one , says, “I have a big flabby ass and thighs and a pot belly”. Of her body she says, “It needs big improvement, I am jealous of most girls, because I think they are better.”

 

Weight is the most common complaint women have about their bodies. We are either too fat or too thin, and we have been trained by society to measure our self worth according to the scale. Many women feel a kinship with women that we identify with or are comparable to and distance ourselves from women whom we feel inferior to.

 

The fact is most women are not 100% thrilled with their bodies. We often look to others for perfection, not knowing those others, may very well be looking to us for our perfection's Particularly in our community when we may be too petite or have large breasts, which may make it hard to identify as butch or that we may be too big and broad to be considered femme.

 

How do we break these images of ourselves and learn to love what we have been given, and understand that we are perfect exactly as we are.

 

Take a realistic look at yourself in front of the mirror. Seriously look at what is great about you? Maybe you carry your weight well… you really do have an hourglass figure. Maybe you have the most beautiful head of hair, a fabulous smile and sexy lips. Maybe you have great pec’s or muscular legs. What is great about you… because trust me, there are many things that are great about you! What are they?

 

Listen to those compliments! Let yourself be appreciated. Do not overlook or pass off compliments. Take them in for exactly what they are offered to you as and enjoy the approval. Listen to what is being complimented and take note!

 

Take a look at the crowd. Not to compare yourself, not to judge other, but to get a sense for all women’s shapes, sizes and features. One reason we tend to criticize ourselves is that we have isolated ourselves and have not taken the time to observe the variety of women and our many different features and our uniqueness.

 

You will find many beautiful femme women with many curves and few extra pounds and you will find equally thin women to have masculine qualities that are a downright turn on. We are all unique, have flaws, perfection's and imperfections. Some say indulging yourself by getting naked at women’s events, hot tub gathering or pool party, actually helps to shed away self judgment like dead skin!

 

Start working on it. You will be surprised at how just making that one step to working on your body, will affect you positively and immediately. By then establishing a routine you will become much more powerful and in control of the direction you are taking your body, whether it is working out or yoga, you will feel better! Treat yourself and your body with respect. Eat right, do not over indulge, get rest and exercise and you are sure to reap the rewards.

 

Spiritual Healing. It is said that our emotions are one with our body. Taking care of our spiritual selves is a way to get back in touch with our bodies just as much as working out. Sometimes it is a matter of acceptance and letting go of control.

 

Easier said than done… healing and overcoming past abuses and trauma is the only way to get back to our true selves. If you harbor issue’s they will remain with you, both mentally and also physically. It may even affect how you personally see yourself in an irrational way.

 

Going out of you way to treat all others with respect and compassion, is a great way to gain spiritual strength, regardless if it is returned to you or not. By working on the beauty within, you will find yourself an amazing creature. Strong, kind, passionate and sensitive… you are a powerful woman.

 

In closing, we all have an issue or two about our bodies. While we all strive to be perfect, we do not realize, that we already are.
