"What a great
movie!"
Film maker,
Katherine Brooks age old story of unconditional and forbidden
love is sure to be a lesbian classic. It is a story of a
Catholic Boarding School teacher who is pursued by her female
student, Annabelle. Annabelle is a mature rebellious
teen who quickly develops a crush on the shy but mysterious
school teacher, Simone.
It's an old
story, but Katherine Brooks has a talent of bringing out the
deep and personal emotions in her characters in "Loving
Annabelle" which really draws her audience in. Hopefully
"Loving Annabelle" will become well known in the mainstream
audience, because anyone can relate to this story which
is told so beautifully.
The cast could
not have been a better fit. Erin Kelly as Annabelle was
able to pull off the sexy determined teen, while at the same
time showing her age and vulnerability. Surely Kelly will be a
rising star.
Diane Gaidry's
portrayal of Simone the reluctant school teacher, however
really puts the heart and soul into the movie.
Throughout the movie Simone's angst and struggle to come to
terms that she is falling in love with someone she is not
supposed to fall in love with, is so beautifully and
respectfully portrayed. Gaidry really draws you into Simone's
little secluded world, where she hides her true self and is
afraid to come out, let alone fall in love with a female
student.
"Loving
Annabelle" is just a very good movie, it has you from "Hello"
and keeps your attention right up to the abrupt bitter
end. It is SURE to be a lesbian classic, but will likely
become very successful in mainstream media, as it should
because movies like "Loving Annabelle" help mainstream society
to understand the overwhelming dynamics and the gift of
falling in love.
